I've been contemplating wearing some kind of head covering for the past 12-18 months. I'm a Baha'i, and in Baha'i scripture it says nothing about women having to veil. In fact, our scripture says:
"It hath been forbidden you to carry arms unless essential, and permitted you to attire yourselves in silk. The Lord hath relieved you, as a bounty on His part, of the restrictions that formerly applied to clothing and to the trim of the beard."
In Islam, the religion before the Baha'i Era began, women had to cover everything except for the face and hands. As Baha'i women, we no longer have to observe this restriction, so we do not have to wear the hijab. However, while veiling is not mandatory, I do agree with their argument in favor of it. I've finally come to a conclusion, and started veiling. I LOVE IT!
Are there any other non-Muslim women who veil themselves, and how did you come to this conclusion? Please share. :^)

Original Muslimah Country Bumpkin:
I am slave to no one but God. You, however, are slave to your own anger, to your own poison. You are slave to your own hatred.

True, God does not require us to wear a veil, and neither does He hate or forbid it. Rather, if it's a form of modesty to safeguard His handmaidens, then it's a good thing.
Yes, a woman brought Christ into the world, this is true. She was also veiled.
The Madonna and nuns are veiled, and they are viewed as pious women who serve God. However, the veiled Muslimah is viewed as oppressed. DOUBLE STANDARD. Why this double standard? Ridiculous.
I'm not a Muslimah, but I do veil and no, I'm not oppressed. No one forced me, did it on my own. I love it!
