I've used this for years, the scoop kind. Lately it's not just dusty, but it has enough that I have to sweep up every day. Is yours like that? Its so bad, I want to change brands. Any suggestions? I prefer a plastic container, it's easier for me to handle, I'm in a wheelchair. It has to be scoop, I can't dump the other kind.

I use scoop away and special kitty and it works pretty well. Have you thought about getting an electric cat box that way all you have to do is scoop it out of the box and fill the cat box.

I am in a wheel chair as well and I use the Tidy Cat mutable ( for one cat) I have a hood on the litter box I don't lock it and I can scoop it out fine. I have a long handled scooper that I was able to buy at a pet supply store.I don't have to bend over. I just lift the hood off of the plastic pan and the long handled scooper and the job is quick and easy.

I have used various kinds of litter including Tidy Cat. Seems like most litter has this dust and if not will soon enough. The dust is part of their deodorizers and just plain dust from the litter. Sometimes it is just because the litter is from the end of batch. The dust settles to the bottom giving inferior quality to the end of that batch.

I hear you on preferring the kind with the handle. Without having any limitations it just makes it easier to lift, carry and pour from. Besides.....who wants to lift so much weight off of the store shelf into the basket, out of the basket onto the conveyor belt, back into the basket, out of the basket into the car, out of the car into the house and inside the house to its proper storage area? Too much weight to keep lifting.........who needs to go to the gym?

As for the sweeping, I have been a cat owner for over 40 years. Cats just make a mess! Sometimes on purpose and sometimes because the litter sticks to their fur or paws. It has become a way of life to sweep the floor daily for litter and dust.

Good Luck! :)

Get the plant-based scoopable clumping litter. They have several advantages:

1. They are safer for cats than the clay cumping scoopables becuase they are organic, not mineral.

2. They are super light-weight becuase they are made from plant fibers- no more struggling with the wieght of cat litter!

3. They control odors better than clay clumping scoopable.

4. Thay last for more than a month for a single cat household.

There is a wheat based clumping litter available at PetCo and PetSmart. I myself use "P-Pod" clumping liiter which I buy from Fred Myers for $7.50 a big bag which lasts 1 month for my 2 cats. P-pod as the name suggests comesfrom pea pod fibers. Like wheat, it has a natural clumping reactions to moisture. It also has a slight mint scent - very attractive to cats.

I had the same problem... to the point were my cat quit using it when I changed the litter. I switched to Tidy Cat multi cat, even though I only have one cat. Its got some new locking technology. Works really well and the cat likes it too.

i've got had the LiiterMaid for my 2 cats for a pair of years now. as long as you employ an outstanding high quality of clumping muddle and don't fill the muddle up too lots, you're able to not have a undertaking. i like my LitterMaid. No nasty litterbox odors and it fairly is in good shape for my cats.

to make life a little easier for you and the cat. It is a little pricey however my parents love it. the Littermaid, every time your cat is done using it will sweep threw and scoop it itself. (It does not create dust)
