if this is even an answerable question, i know it depends on a lot of things, but what is the average percent of your paycheck that is taken out each week if you claim zero?

It depends upon your wages. Anywhere between 0% and 30%. Plus 7.65% for Social Security and Medicare plus state taxes between 0% and 5% typically.

I know it used to be that if you claimed single and zero dependents, they took 15%. I think they changed that to closer to 12% many years ago.

i claim zero. after federal w/h, ss, medicare, state and city taxes w/h my net pay is approx. 65% of total pay. so that means the rest (35%) is going to taxes.
