Hot dogs have coloring in them. The grey color of the mixed meat is not appetizing. Sometimes they use paprika, like the color of hot saussage, sometimes food coloring. Check the label. I have seen white hotdogs with no color.

hot dogs and sausages are grounded, pounded meat (from vaious animals and various parts).
they are inserted into a type of ruber like tube that keeps all the contents in.
the tube is made of pig intestines
that is why hot dogs are the color they are
