Ignore it and not take it personally. There are too many psychos in this world to waste your nerves on.

Well, when you were sworn in to protect and serve, and took your oath as an officer it was an unconditional understanding of your duties to others, so if your colleagues are offensive to you racial slurs, sexual slurs etc.. address with you commanding officer or disciplinary/grievance committee but if its a motorist or drunken jack#@! then suck it up, be a better a man/woman
What can you do? realize and understand that your not taking that crap home with you to your family and you leave it at the station,
AND if by chance this a woman/man posing a question about his/her spouse, have some respect for them, you married them as officers and thats what they are you married them you knew what the future could bring and if you never fully accepted then you shouldnt have married This career path takes a toll or any legal career takes on people it isnt your duty to do anything more than listen an extend yourself emotionally if need be.

I prefer the x26 conducted energy weapon or "taser" myself or sometimes a good ole fashion squirt of pepper spray will do it.
Just kidding people will try and prevoke you and scream and cuss and insult you its not right but sometimes you have to take it. DONT BE A PUSH over but some times you have to eat a little before you can dish it out

warn, warn more threateningly, asses if the subject poses any danger at all, if the answer to that is yes, make an arrest. if the subject at any point touches or batters you, make an arrest. if the subject assaults you ( assault is defined as the intent or threat of physical harm ) make an arrest. You are an office of the law, the subject needs to respect you, and you deserve hes respect, don't take any crap like that!

Ignore it and not get involved in an argument or take it personally (that is easier said than done!). A professional officer is better than that.

pull out his batton and begin beating the loving crap out of the abuser. he should make sure all of the teeth are broken and the tongue torn out.
i'll bet then the nasty mouth will think twice about doing it again!!!
get real, what do you think. he should shake his head, consider the source and move along. just like everyone else should do!!!

Nothing, perhaps we will soon have laws against evil thoughts.
Grow up and live your own life. The police won't protect you.
