I had a Lakeland Terrier a few years ago, and she was 12 when she had ALL her teeth out. Within a couple of weeks, her gums had hardened and she never went without eating her usual canned dog food, meal scraps and the small puppy sized munchies. Don't dispair - your dog will be ok soon. And, hey, at least he won't give the postman a bite now, just a hard suck!!

They cannot go long without eating, and they especially need to keep their strength up after an operation to recover fully. You need to sort him some soft foods to eat such as mashed up chicken and rice or white fish. With regards to putting medicine on his food, ensure you mix the medicine into the food as to disguise the smell of it a bit better. You may really need to encourage him to eat, by hand feeding him. If in doubt though, contact your vets.

We had to have our pulled out as well. It took about 3 days and he started eating. We started him on can food and added flavor to it, brown gravy etc. He is doing so much better now with his teeth out, we didn't realize how much pain he was in because they don't show it. He is acting like a pup. The better it looks and smells the more likely he will take that first bite, and realize he won't hurt when he eats. Terrior are very sentimental. Good luck

The dog has to eat. A day or two is one thing, but after that
it won't be good for the dog. If your dog has only a few teeth,
than give him some soft food, that will not require chewing and
will go down his throat easily. Try mixing his food with water,
and mash it, make sure it is really soft, and the dog will eat it.

I would call your vets office and let them know your dog is not eating, ask them if they carry Hills A/D food which is made specifically for pets that are recovering from surgery etc., if they do not carry this product ask if they carry the Eukanuba equivelant. Also let them know that you have been putting the meds (which I would guess are antibiotics) in his food and he is not eating it. Your vet will most likely recommend that you give the meds orally to insure that he is getting the correct dosage. Good luck and I hope this helps.

My dogs teeth had to be taken out due to a mouth disease last year. She only has one tooth left. The vet instructed me to buy soft dog food, put it in a blender, add some water, and mix very well. Try to give him the medicine directly in his mouth. Your dog should feel better in a couple of days.

You need to get some canned food and mix water in it so he can drink it. You should put the medicine in his mouth so you know that he is getting the full dose. his mouth will feel better in a couple of days.

You need to ask whomever took out his teeth. My goodness, Yorkies are quite small and need to eat. Make the call!

Give him some chicken broth or diluted soup. Make sure he has water available. Don't let him go without anything, he will become dehydrated. Then you can mix canned food with water to make a soupy meal for him.
