Call Cingular right away and have the phone shut off. Tell them someone stole your phone. They will know how to help you. The longer you wait, the more charges you may be liable for that the thief runs up.

All you need to do is goto a cingular store and have them change the sim card number. They will then give you a new sim card and sim card number.
This is to ensure that the person who stole your phone cant use it to rack up an expensive bill. It will turn off your stolen phone from the network. but it will keep your account active
Then if you aren't eligible for an upgrade, buy a crappy prepaid phone, for in the meantime. Don't use it as prepaid, all you do is put the new sim card in it that you just switched.
If they dont have any cheap phones, goto T-mobile or a kiosk in the mall, they should have an old unlocked GSM phones.
Thats the cheapest and easiest way until you can buy a better phone.

might be using your minutes???
you can't be serious! you mean you think a thief would steal your phone and he might use up your minutes. I'm sure he isn't. he just wanted to carry your phone around so he could look cute holding the phone to his ear.
while you are here asking silly questions about your sim card, exiting your contract and worrying about your minutes you should be worrying if your thief has friends that live in china.
now get off of here, call your carrier and ask them what you should do before you have a $6,000 phone bill that YOU, and not the thief, will be responsible for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

file a police report that is was stolen so you can go to the cell phone company and prove to them it was. That way they can't charge u for those mintues. My mom just had a verzion phone stolen and it ran up a 3,000 dollar bill. She had to get a lawyer. I would just say file a police report, and have them try to call and get the phone back. Otherwise have cingular cut the phone off. About getting it back i don't know what to tell u other than your prolly poo outta luck.

You should definitely report it stolen with the phone company but you will probably never see you phone again. My brother had his phone stolen and the police basically told him that all he that would happen if they tracked down the criminal was he would have pissed off a criminal who would have only get a slap and the hand and let out of jail. It's sad but true since it's such a minor crime and officers are needed else ware.

Immediately call Cingular. Check with your friends and see if they have an old phone that they retained after upgrading.

Of course they're using up your minutes. Sorry, but write this off as a loss. Will Cingular cancel if you notify them?

this is bad little one.
Call the phone company, and notify them if you haven't already, offer the person who stole the phone sex in return to get it back, ( i know but you must consider all your options) in the future get a prepaid phone, where after the minutes are used up thats it!!! or use your security settings to lock the phone when its not in use and needs a password to use. works for me. call the police aswell like I others are saying.

first of all, we need to know what year the cell phone is, newer phones, like 2 years or less have a gps unit in them that can be tracked. you might also try to ask the "thief" for it back. but i would suggest trying to call the phone company and see if they can track it. DO NOT APPROACH THE PERSON WHO STOLE IT!!!! if you ask for it back and he does not comply, call the cops, if he is stealing your minutes, you can get him arrested.

What dh1977 said tell them to cut off your phone. This has happened to me too. Your going to have to buy a replacement phone. I dont know how much that will be though.
