I agree with efion who had the same idea as I. Airguns are dangerous, and the high powered ones can KILL and MAIM. I won't say banned, but certainly confined to target shooting on a range, and absolutely ALWAYS under qualified adult supervision.
I do not believe in hunting, and certainly never for hurting of any living thing.
If I ever have a kid I would not dream of letting him or her carry one about on the streets. There is no purpose in it other than to have a go at people (if nothing else acting the powerful git who can inflict pain or maiming), animals, birds, and public-private property.

Yes, they should definitely be banned. A little boy died a few years ago near where I stay because some idiot was taking pot shots with an airgun.

Good question, I agree with you and poster eifionref...
I have phoned the police to report 2 lads for trying to shoot at birds in the trees...lots of pets are maimed, I've seen the results. I believe the only people who should be allowed to keep and use guns are the police, armed forces, members of gun clubs and only kept there not at home...airguns are just as dangerous as any other type of gun....for humans and animals...

Absolutely! They serve no good purpose whatsoever and blind someone every few months in the UK. Still, it could be worse. We could be like the looney-tunes across the pond who let dangerous criminals and the mentally ill buy assault rifles. Rifles which seem to be better equipment than the British army is issued with! And they say that American's have no sense of irony. Lol!

yes i agree

edit: the pellet went through the pupil of my eye and lay 5 millimetres from my brain, it took 2 operations to take it out ....all this because some idiot had a air riffle and thought it was a big thing to point it and fire at people

I hadn't heard of these things being a problem, very occasionally you'll hear about someone shooting at animals or car windshields with one but that is already forbidden, if they catch someone doing that they lose their gun and get at the very least a hefty fine!

People should just stop getting them for 12 year olds and junkies

Yes,at least in public. They should only be allowed in gun clubs.
There is no legitimate reason for having them in a house..if you're into target shooting..fair enough..the place for it is a rifle range not your back garden.
