I was watching SHOOTOUT! on the history channel about 3 months ago. They were talking about Lima company in Iraq and the valient things they have done since deployment. On one occasion, a sniper pinned down a squad on a roof top. The sniper was too accurate to risk loading a LAW launcher and exposing an elbow so one guy loads his grenade launcher, sits up, and fires at the sniper, 300 yards away, and takes him out. As a football player, I know how much 100 yards is, mutliply that by 3 and it's still not that big, as far as weapons go, yet they made it sound like Wild Bill making a shot from 500 feet with his pistol. So what IS the average distance of an M-16 mounted grenade launcher?

What? Operational Security??

Dennis, the maximum & effective ranges for all U.S. Armed Forces conventional weapons are non-classified. Are you going to tell someone in the Air Force not to publicly mention how many wings the F-22 Raptor has?

There's a freaking Wikipedia article on the M203, for Pete's sake!

That's a very good shot, especially under fire. That's what makes all the difference; the combat stress conditions.

The effective range on the 203 is 160 yards, the maximum range is 440 yards, this guy you talk about is damn good! Especially considering the circumstances that you say, loading, getting up, aiming and hiting your target before the sniper can hit you! Good man!
