You are way behind the times. That was the big scare of the 1980's regarding a non existent ozone hole. They environmental fascists have moved on to bigger and better things for us serfs

erm...

you would do well to do some research methinks!

about 20 years ago, we discovered that one of THE most harmful substances that we were producing was a propellant used in aerosols called "CFC" gas. It was killing the Ozone layer very rapidly. With a very concerted effort, an alternative was found and it was determined that the alternative was (a) safe and (b) cheap to produce. hence, about 10 years later we discovered that there were two pretty wonderful effects. 1. the ozone hole wasn't getting any worse and 2. the CFC problem had been eradicated from across the world. quiely and without much fuss, mainly due to the fact that the alternative was cheaper!

so, your premise is in fact pretty incorrect. hairspray, per se, doesn't contribute a whole lot on a global scale. yeah, we could easily do away with it but as another person pointed out, the more people who buy sh**e like this the more we'll produce!

If you're worried about global warming, a much better pair of questions would be the following:

1. why don't we ban the internal combustion engine?
2. why do we still burn coal for power?

I'm not sure which would be the bigger contributor - the car or coal, but they're THE problems! hairspray's a loooong way behind these 2!!!!

hope this helps,

love and light,

I think that the aerosol cans are the ones responsible for contributing to global warming. The pump sprayers on hairsprays that pump a liquid are not harmful. Until the others are banned, I will continue to use the pump kind and write my representatives to enact the banning legislation you speak of. Very good question. It warms my heart to know there are many others concerned about the planet. Watch Mr. Al Gore's DVD "An Inconvenient Truth if you haven't already.

What makes you think that hairspray contributes to global warming?

Who told you that?? I think you are confusing global warming with the hole in the ozone layer. Hairsprays and other aerosols used to have Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) in them that contributed to the hole in the ozone layer, but CFCs were outlawed years ago when we realized what harm they were doing.

people like it and we are a society of consumers. if someone wants to but it, someone will fight hard to sell it so they can make money.
