Why is seal hunting a horrid thing?
A seal has a chance to have a real life. A seal has a chance to fight back and/or evade a hunter.
You ever stop to think about the steak that's on your plate and that makes the leather in your shoes?
Do you have any clue how a domesticated animal is killed? These are the animals that get skinned alive because the slaughter houses have quotas that need to be met. Animals get sent down the line alive. Large animals get their heads bashed in with a bolt gun so they are still alive, hung upside down, and then get their throats cut so they bleed out and improve the quality of the meat. If the person with the bolt gun screws up, rather than the cow being stunned, it has a bad headache and proceeds down the line completely aware of what is going on. If a cow get its throat cut and it is still alive when it gets to the skinning station, oh well...it still gets skinned.
Pigs are put into such close quarters that they constantly bite each other. Egg laying chickens spends its entire life in a wire cage until it is too old to lay eggs, then it ends up in a can of soup (personally, I think standing on wire for a day would suck much less my entire life). These animals are fed mass quantities of anti-biotics to try and prevent infection and diseases that would hurt the profits of corproate farms (nevermind the effect that antibiotic resistant diseases might have on humans in 50 years). They spend their life in cramped quarters and fed God only knows what else.
I suggest reading a book called "The Meat You Eat". While it is not life changing, it does help shed light on how corporate farms raise the food that is bought in the supermarket.
Take a look at the world around you. You curse the seal hunters as you eat your cheeseburger from McDonalds while your kids munches on McNuggets. Operators of corporate farms are worried about nothing more than profits. Domestic animals are the animals that are tortured and live a miserable existance. Most of America is part of the problem without knowing it....
Yet you curse the hunters...
EDIT: LMAO....Vegan? Animal Rights activitst? LOL...you're even worse than I thought
What makes you think Veggies don't nave feelings? How do you think lettuce and cabbage feel when they get their head chopped off. What about corn when you pull its ears off? How can you gouge the eyes out of a potato yet say you are worried about anothers pain...lol
There is such a thing in nature called the food chain. Whether you like it or not, humans are on top. I think the hunters are best as they actually have respect for what they kill, unlike people who never think about where the pack of ground beef comes from. You want to make a stand? Start with the supermarket, not the hunters
I never will understand your type. If it is cute, it is a cause. If it's a cow, it is a baseball glove.

Officially, the commercial hunt for harp and hooded seals begins November 15 and continues through May 15. The majority of the hunting takes place in March and April, but the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans may shorten or extend the closing date as he sees fit.

Most of the people on here are sportsman, personally I hunt for food, but I do enjoy it.
I am not a seal hunter, I think you need to talk to commercial hunters about seal hunting, or maybe Eskamos.

Most of us on here are hunters and fishers of pretty standard game. I doubt we have many seal hunters here. Go make your political points elsewhere. This is a forum for people to discuss real issues about hunting and provide tips to fellow hunters.

Take your personal views somewhere else. They are not wanted here.... Go back crying to your PETA friends, because hunting WILL NOT go away. If you don't like the answers, then don't ask the question.
