I was at one of my clubs Christmas party and we had entertainment. When they first started they introduced each person, when they finished I clapped. I was the only one that clapped, was I wrong? I felt like a fool.

You were not wrong. It is customary and courteous for an audience to clap or some other display of appreciation after introductions and a performance. Concert audiences cheer and carry on at the conclusion of every song, and when the band is introduced - it's a show of support and appreciation.

Your other club members are ill-mannered.

Unless it is church choir, clapping is a must after introductions. The only fools in the room were the ones that did not clap. It's called respect. Be proud you are no fool.

No, you were not wrong. That has happened to me before. I just kept on clapping and rooting out loud. It's not my problem that there were a lot of dead heads in the audience!

You are not a dummy.. obviously everybody else is for not clapping and being disrespectful to the entertainers... You are the only one that was being smart at this gathering~!~

It's okay, don't worry about ... I'm sure everyone else has forgotten by now, actually two minutes after you clapped!

Since, apparently, no one preceded the introductions by asking the public to hold their applause (I've been at events where this request has been made), you were perfectly right (and gracious) to applaud. Maybe the rest of your club members were already too drunk to know what was going on?

No you were not wrong.

You demonstrated appropriate appreciation beforehand for the effort the entertainment made to arrive to the party.
