I love it when morons use the phrase "send their children off". They delight in throwing that mental image of 12 year olds toting guns and wearing oversized helmets out, don't they?
There's not a single parent in the US that's "sent their children off" to the military -- 100% of the "children" joined up all on their own. Some (like me) needed their parent's permission because they joined up before they were 18.
Also, which is it? I thought the latest liberal geographic tripe was that the south was "Redneck Republican"? Did you change that on us again?
And lastly, the military is overwhelmingly conservative....you don't find very many liberal democrats serving. If you do, you'll generally find out that A) they joined up by mistake and B) won't last past their first enlistment (if that long).

I am not from the south and a Republican and I joined the military as did 2 of my 3 brothers. I have met more people who are from the north, the mid-west and the northwest than the south.

I'll try to ignore the "sending their children off to join" portion...
My parents (California Republicans) had me serving from 1985-1999 on active-duty, and my little brother served from 1986-1992 on active-duty.
Sure there were a number of folks I served with from the "south".. as with various buddies from Minnesota, Alaska, Montana, Phillie, Massachusetts, etc... as well as Ireland, the Philippines, Korea, and Poland
