I've scrubbed it out using Mr. Clean, sprinkled baking soda on the knot that you tie after you cut it off, and even put a stick up in there. It still stinks. Any ideas? I don't want to have to toss it out and get a new one as money is tight.

I put downy dryer sheets in my daughters and I wipe my daughter down twice a week with lysol and that keeps the smell away for me.

I have to agree with many of the previous posters - the only way to get rid of the smell is to get rid of the Diaper Genie. We use the little lightly scented bags from Target or Walmart. Dump the poop in the toilet, then tie the diaper up in the bag. We usually take them directly to the outside trash can,but they can go in the kitchen garbage in the bags as that trash gets taken out at least once a day.

Unfortunately plastic is very hard to get smells out of. We never got a diaper genie bc I had heard so many diappointing things.

I like using these little blue bags from Babies R Us. They are not online so I can't link, but they are small, can only hold four diapers tops (toddler sized) They have a bit of deodorant on them and when we have a dirty diaper, I just tie it off and put it by the back door.

They sell them at dollar stores too, but I like the BRU ones best.

I had this problem with mine. I got rid of the diaper genie and started to use Hefty OneZip Storage bags. The smell never escapes the bag and they cost less. I found that the box last as long as the diaper genie refills.

I have one of those electric air filters in the outlet behind the changing table right next to ours, it works pretty well, you usually can't smell it at all. They're not too expensive, I think mine was like twenty bucks at target or something like that, and you can use it forever, after the diapers are gone you can put it next to the garbage or in the bathroom or whatever, it works great for anything smelly.

Soaking anything in bleach always gets smell out. But personally, I think they are a waste too. I just use a normal trash with a cover. I believe we change it every two days. I live in a small apartment and everyone tells me my apartment does not smell like diapers at all.

Try some vinegar and baking soda. Soak it for about a day and then the next day rinse it out and sprinkle some baking soda in there.

i know this sounds wierd, but put some white vinegar in it. yeah it will stink of vinegar for a little while but once it dries the stinky diaper smell is gone. if you dont like that idea, try using straight bleach.

I used to use Lemon scented Lysol. It worked pretty good. I'm surprised the Mr. Clean did not help.

I'm interested to know also. Mine stinks all the time, even after cleaning.
