Many Veterans cannot buy health insurance due to age or medical conditions. Many of these veterans cannot gain access to VA healthcare because they have a living income. This leads to a higher mortality rate.

Any veteran is eligible for VA health care. None are turned away.

The prices charged to veterans for healthcare by the VA are based on that person's ability to pay.

I'm a veteran who uses the VA and has more than a living income. I served for four years during wartime and have no service related health problems. I have to "co-pay" a small amount for doctor's visits and medicine as I'm in the lowest of the 8 "Priority Groups". Vets who are 50% or more service-connected disabled are Priority 1 and pay nothing for all VA services as they darn well should. There's many factors that determine elgibility for groups 2 through 7. Severity of injury and income are used. Then you get into stuff like POW, which war you served in, exposure to radiation, chemical and biological weapons etc. The lower your priority the less services your elgible for and the more you pay.

Yes, any vet who served four years should be covered if they don't have health insurance. I can't tell you the reasons but many elgible vets are being given the run around by the VA and are unable to enroll. Tell anyone you know in this situation to call their US Congressman's office and demand their help. That's what we pay them for.

From what I read at the VA web site....you are eligible for health care from the VA if you are an American Vet and you are NOT covered by another insurance plan and need medical assistance. I have friends in Kansas. Through her husband, who is a vet, she receives care through the VA because they have no other health insurance and can't get any due to prior conditions. The program is called CHAMPVA
(champus VA).
Check it out by called a Veterans Regional Office in your area. Check the phone book for the number.

You ask me what I think, I think that every veteran should have access to the VA regardless of financial condition. There should be nobody left out. This was a promise given the vets when they joined, it should be upheld, and if budget cuts are necessary then take it out of the over paid and under worked congress. If Americans don't want to pay their fair share of taxes to fund these people then they shouldn't work and achieve. These people risk it all to defend us and protect us and now we are going to let them down, No way. I am not a veteran

No- the definition of "Veteran" is too broad- everone from individuals who made sacrifices to individuals who were in the National Guard for 6-months and got kicked out is included in that.
I was in a veterans program for getting into college about 10 years ago- and I would say about 50% of the guys taking up seats were deadbeats with highly questionable service records and were just there to collect the stipend (and keeping the seat from individuals who actually wanted to go to night school and make something of themselves)
I gave 5 years of my life to the military and was extremely fortunate to come home whole and go on with my life- I do not feel I am entitled to what would amount to lifelong welfare- which is what it would be in my case as nothing wrong with me was a result of my service.
If you want to support the troops- give them jobs and opportunities to suceed when they get home- not handouts based on patronizing and a "John Kerry" belief that we are underclass, uneducated idiots or psychos.

Not that it would matter. They told my dad he had a chest infection, then a pulled muscle,Than finally ,knowing he was exposed to agent orange, detected he had cancer after 3 months of doctor visits. They tried sending him to chiropractor after they said it was a pulled muscle. He passed away at the age of 51 before even starting chemotherapy. Say its neglect say its malpractice. Its just a shame they had to drop dioxin,a highly toxic herbiside,on their own soldiers. And not even compensate the people and their families who have suffered from it.I was gonna join the marines back in 2002 but im glad I didnt because I see how good of care they gave my father.Who served two tours in vietnam. Its 2007 and our negligent government should provide healthcare for all americans including veterans, but they definately deserve the best healthcare possible, not just people that pretend they are doctors because they have a degree.

i think that as long because of the fact the canine is healthy, adopting one from the shield on a low earnings is high-quality. yet it fairly is provided that they are in a position to arise with the money for elementary care which incorporate a checkup (50 greenbacks for a bypass to around here, not too high priced), a minimum of a extremely good high quality nutrition, pictures, dewormer, heart meds, etc. many human beings on "low earnings" can nevertheless grant for their canine. Wether you provide up television, information superhighway, smoking, ingesting out, it fairly is considerable to attempt and shop a canine at it fairly is healthiest good off the bat so which you do not inevitably could undertaking approximately vet costs all that lots. additionally i might wish they might a minimum of have vet in strategies that has fee plans and something they might pawn If mandatory in case of an emergency. It fairly comes all the way down to questioning and being to blame, interior the tip. in basic terms in view which you do not inevitably have money would not advise you are able to not think of forward in basic terms in case. If a individual could not arise with the money for that, and are suffering to help themselves, then for sure no pets. i might particularly a canine be positioned down interior the shield than its elementary needs be disregarded. some might even see it as "saving a existence" yet what variety of existence is that once you're sick and your guardians, people who stored you and enjoyed you and are meant to guard you, won't be able to do something for you? it fairly is much extra saddening to me; getting a house however the canine nevertheless dropping its existence interior the long-term because of the fact the folk won't be able to arise with the money for it.

ALL vets should be accepted without question. Because I have been able to make a good living after 25 years in the corps, and Joe Blow wasn't, doesn't mean one of us should be in and the other out.
