Where are good places to go fishing? My husband loves to fish, but I'm not too familiar with the hot spot. Any idea?

Calfornia offers so many outstanding options for fishing you couldn't list them here. Southern CA, in San Diego has some very small lakes where the next world record largemouth is swimming as you read this. Guides would be helpful.

Castaic in Ventura County is another excellent big bass fishery. Here again a day with a guide would be helpful.

The ocean off southern CA is also very good for many types of offshore fishing.

In Nothern Ca, You can catch a charter boat out of Emeryville, San Francisco or Berkley for rock fish, halibut, shark or salmon in season. In the valley, Stockton, Sacramento etc. the Delta has some outstanding bass fishing. The foothill lakes in the mountains have good bass, trout and panfish. Lake Amador is one great one for big trout and large Florida strain bass. The nice thing there is shore fishing can be excellent and there is a resort with inexpensive boat rentals.

In the mountains of course there is some excellent trout fishing. Fly fishing and bait fishing can be had, check with regulations.

There are many books about fishing in CA, so many options.

What part of California (it's a big place), and saltwater or freshwater? There are lots of great places, from trout in the mountains to bass in the lowlands, and everything from salmon and bottomfish to tuna and yellowtail in the ocean.

Clear Lake reservoir near Tulelake, CA - nearly on OR border. One of the hotest bass lakes in the country.
