It's not a matter of age. If you are 12 and providing over half of your own support (OK, that would be rare) then your parents couldn't claim you as a dependent, and you could take your own exemption.

If you are NOT providing over half of your own support and you live with your parents or a grandparent or aunt, for example, then they can claim you until (not including) the year you turn 19, or until you turn 24 if you're a full-time student.

They might be able to claim you after that also, if they provide over half of your support for the year, and you don't make over $3300.

Ask your parents. If you are working and your parents still can claim you on their tax return, I say lucky you.
