I was driving(in tampa area) and the car was running fine, then suddely died, rpms dropped coasted off road.... Anyway... after pulling over tried to restart... The engine sounded like it was starting(did crank) but it got up to 300 rpms (o3 ranger 2.4 4 inline) the died out, and would not start from t hat point on... I have been told its everything from a fuel filter, to a fuel pump(i hear a whine when i turn the key to the on postion) saying its on... , it has had no problems to this point...

I also have been told the spark plugs are bad, the throttle postioning sensor is messed up, it goes on and on, could anyone give me some id eas here, i don't have much cash, and i need this thing to make money as my job is far away.. thanks in advance....

Three things it needs (FUEL, AIR and SPARK) with out any of the three you get nothing.

First Check (ALL) fuses, yes fuses! Fuses get overlooked all the time and cause people to spend money on other stuff besides a fuse or what caused the fuse to blow.

Second check your air filter although it shouldn't cause the truck not to run at all it can cause it to run rough and help a low fuel mix not spark and fire.

Third and most of the time the cause of lost power or not starting in Fords, the fuel filter(s). Most of the time there is a in-line filter under the drivers side door behind the frame. (the use of a special tool is required and you can barrow from a parts store) The other filter if equipped is near the engine (carb, or rail).

Fourth Are you getting fuel to the engine? A bad fuel pump would occurs as you said just stop, maybe work once more, and nothing. look for a way to see if fuel is getting to the top of the engine ( you may need to separate the fuel line to find out if your getting any).

Fifth Spark is your spark plugs and wires, New plugs and wires would run you about 30-50 bucks. If you just want to look for spark pull put one plug and plug it to the wire that belongs to it, have the threads touch any part of metal of the enginee and turn the engin over look for spark in the gap of the plug.

sixth If you have done all the above and still haven't came to find a problem. There may be a problem, that is that you need to have it looked at. A good resource for getting someone to look at your problem is try the local auto parts store and look for the high school kids working there. Many love working on cars and trouble shooting problems. They may do work on your truck for just the cost of parts and a few bucks. Just ask....

Lastly Check those fuses..... ALL OF THEM

Gearbox is right about the fuel cutoff switch some are more sensitive than others. I was not aware of the location on this truck. A simple bump has triped my cousins cars before, and I have heard of vehicles with high powered audio systems thumping it to be triped, Being it in the Dash a hard hit of the fist may have done it also.

tc_an_american is pretty much right on the checks you should do after you check this first thing ..

but first on my list would be the fuel pump shut off located on the passenger side floor board (it's under the dash).. see if the button is raised and push down on the red button on top and see if you hear a click.. if yes.. try to start truck and inspect for fuel leaks.... Been running into some that get accidently tripped lately

Also Ford hasn't been having any ignition module problems since moving the module to the engine computer itself

each and every cellular has DNA and that's consisted of two strands tightly woven around one yet another. the ingredient that stops the two strands from breaking aside is referred to as a telomeric cap (it extremely is random nucleotide sequences referred to as nonsense codons. Codon is a three sequence of nucleotides that codes for amino acids eg. CUU is a amino acid referred to as proline . A nonsense codon is one that doesnt code for any amino acid production) each and every time your cells divide a small sequence is lost there by reducing the stability of the cellular's DNA (in layman's phrases). this might at last lead do maximum of Ur cells' DNA turning out to be risky. and in many circumstances whilst a mistake happens in DNA the cellular will carry out vehicle cytolysis (cellular suicide) to avert issues. So once you're previous maximum of ur cells telomeric caps would be low and that they are companies to die whilst they attempt to divide.. Whats extremely exciting approximately this theory is the end result it has on evolution (because of fact this happens on the two meiotic besides as mitotic divisions. meaning that a species grows previous too till now it mutates.. yet thats a distinctive tale)
