Plastic covers a range of synthetic or semisynthetic polymerization products. They are composed of organic condensation or addition polymers and may contain other substances to improve performance or economics. There are few natural polymers generally considered to be "plastics". Plastics can be formed into objects or films or fibers. Their name is derived from the fact that many are malleable, having the property of plasticity.

polymerization has very rigid structure that cannot be break therefore plastic cannot be break and decompose. That's why we need to recycle them.

Since you already got two of the most important reasons: not biodegradable and it comes from petroleum (a nonrenewable source). Let me tell you another important aspect: it uses a lot of space in the landfill, it degrades in more than 500 years, and when using recycled plastic to make new products you reduce the usage of energy and water in its manufacturing. Also, not all plastics are recyclable, and there are many kinds of plastics.

2. Plastics are mostly made from petroleum which is a nonrenewable resource.
