Give me a break! 40 hours a week of video games? I totally agree with your dad. You need to find a hobby that does you some good, like reading, coaching a t-ball team, or a part-time job. You can referee for the rec department or YMCA. Make some new friends and go out to the movies, go for a hike, ride your bike, learn a musical instrument--------- there are so many things to do that will challenge your body and/or intellect. I'm sure you want to be a well-rounded person, and that can't happen if you are playing video games during most of your free time!

Some children need more social exposure. This could be what your dad is thinking. In my opinion, if you get good grades and go to bed on time during the week, then you should be able to play whenever you want.
My son is 16. He plays Everquest every minute that he is not in school, or at wrestling practice. However, as of last week, his EQ days are over. I got a grade report and it wasn't acceptable. Now he has to wait until his grades are proved good before he can play again. Trust me - I understand you.

Hey dude, your dad probably wants you to do something else besides play video games all day. I know if you are interested in a certain game to play for an hour and then stop.
Maybe you can compromise with your dad. Try doing some other activity maybe with your dad or sisters and then play games for awhile. That way if he sees you doing some activity other than games he will be more cool with it.

YEAH more than 1 hour is WAAAAAY too much, regardless of good grades. It's better to actually go out and play sports than to play video games. Think of all the $$$ you could make doing some kind of job rather than 5 hours in front of the tube. Take my word, nothing is less attractive than a guy who sits in front of the tube playing video games all night.

Your father did the right thing. Keep up the good work in school and extracurricular activities. Too much tv/games on tv is bad for kids, teens, and adults. I understand that it is your hobby, but you shouldn't be in front of a tv for more than 2 hours at a time.

Uh, yeah! Your Dad absolutely did the right thing. You are addicted. Over an hour is too much. Pick up a book, go outside and build something, do something creative, help around the house, help prepare meals.... something to engage your brain.

You really need to get out and interact with people, or read books, or do other things that connect you in some way with reality and what's going on. The amount of gaming you were doing sounds to me very unhealthy. I'd do the same thing as your dad did.

I suggest you negotiate with your dad. You get to play ps2 on Saturday for as long as you want but leave it alone on school nights.
