What are ski blades and are they worth trying out or are skis better?

Ski blades (aka skiboards, snowblades) are FANTASTIC. Skiboarding feels very intuitive and natural; much easier than conventional skiing. You can use many of the same movements used in skating. You can easily "stop on a dime". You can go fast. You can stay upright most of the time (no excessive "lean forward" needed). You can use your heels more for control. Ever since I bought Salomon Snowblades, I have had nothing but fun with them, skiing in Colorado. They make skiing easier, so if you are already an expert skier, you might find that they are not as exciting as conventional skis; however, you might also be inspired to push yourself even harder. My advice: rent a pair before you buy, if you are not sure you will like them.

Ski blades are very short like ice skates. I wouldn't even think about them if I were an expert skier (I am by the way).

Skiboards/Snowblades are terrible. and Boring. First: you lose your poles (look like an idiot). second they are for little kids in my opinion. They are just something that hit a fad almost 8 years ago. If you want a new challenge try Twin-Tip skis. Learn how to ride switch, slide a rail, ski POW switch, take off and land switch, ride the pipe. If you don't want to move with the progression of skiing (twin-tip skis) then I recommend Tele skiing. But Don't ride the "blades".

hey man. ski blades are the mini skis. i find that i have better control, as long as you have control going fast. they make you go really fast. they are also cool because you can rotate from going forward to backwards really easily - kind of like skating.
definately worth a try. have fun dude

Ski blades are super short skis. They are worth a try. Whether you like them or not is up to you. I don't like them, but that is just my opinion.

By all means become a fruit booter. I haven't seen one of you guys out on the hill in a while and I miss it. I love the pointing and laughing. Its great. One more piece of advice, true expert skiers know that you never stop learning and just enjoy the sport. Not telling everyone else how good they are. Good luck with the fruit booten.

They're only for doing tricks and getting air. They're really short skis, in essence. They are usually twin tipped for going backward safely, but if you're a racer, there' no point in getting them unless you want to get into aerial stuff
