If a man takes your loved ones hostage. Then tells you to do whatever he says and if you don't he will kill them. I can clearly choose not to do as he says and they will die, but is it a fair choice? This applies to Christian god too. He is holding our souls hostage forcing us to follow Jesus in order, and if we don't he sends us to a horrible place known as hell. This doens't sound like the loving, caring god I hear christians talk about, it also doesn't even sound like a totally free will. In fact the cost of using that will is hell. The only major difference is the man holding our loved ones didn't say he loves us.

Interesting philosophy, but i noticed a few flaws, but that is your opinion so i'll let that go; but you might wanna read this:
You just bought a new born puppy. You potty train it, feed it, and over all spoil it rotten. Then when you think it's old enough to walk with you without a leash you open your gate and the dog just takes off never to be seen again. All you wanted to do was just go to the store, but the dog that you spent time training, loving, nuturing, and caring for just took your trust for granted and ran off to Lord knows where. The same applies to God. All he expects of us is to love him and follow Jesus' example. He knows it's impossible but thats why we, as christians, ask for forgiveness when we know we do something wrong. He doesn't send us to hell for sinning he would only send us there for not giving any effort to try. He loves us all that much and he gave us free will on top of that.

If i look at 2 hotels, one is a 5 star hotel with every amenity that I could imagine... the other is rundown with roaches and fleas and no curtains and no locks on the door.... I would choose to be in the 5 star. If i chose the other one, it would be my fault, not anyone elses. The same with choosing God... people get all caught up in the 'can't do this or that's' and forget that it may be the 5 star place in life that they didnt even know is available. God doesnt hold anyone hostage... don't place the blame of choosing wrong on anyone but the person in the mirror... i've been there... poor me, wah wah.. but in the end, I realized that it was me making me miserable, God just wanted me to have the best, and that only happened when I gave up the selfish ME and turned to Him!

In this question you assume that rejecting God and still having life, love, joy, peace is possible. I believe he embodies all those things, so reject God, those things eventually dry up as well.

Would you say the same thing about a doctor who offers you cancer treatment? That he is "holding you hostage," threatening torture and pain and death if you don't "accept his treatment?" Or would you head the warning and get medication?

Mankind's wrongdoing and sin is like cancer. Jesus is a solution. God paid for our sins in his own blood. That is not 'holding mankind hostage.' It's giving them a way out!

If man is innocent, or neutral, or only partially depraved, then as far as I'm concerned, you're correct. Don't forget the dividing line of death where a loving offer during life would turn to wrath, or even more illogical, loving wrath...

Bad theology doesn't mean it's representative of all of Christianity. There are other theologies to look at.

God already sent His Son to die, so He did sacrifice a lot to show that He loves us. If is our choice if accept that love= God still loves you even if you reject Him because He said GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD- By the way when you say he is holding us hostage= no CHRIST CAME TO SET US FREE!! Christ gives us freedom from hell, but He also gives us freedom to live a life that is free from sin. We will sin yes, but we have forgiveness through Christ. Freedom is what I experience not being held hostage- Satan is the one that wants us to think that we are being held hostage by God- Satan is the one that is deceiving the world, CHRIST WANTS TO SET YOU FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Umm, no. It's more like God is telling you that you are not worthy of entering Heaven, your sin nature and your sins themselves bar you from entering Heaven's gate, because only perfection may enter. God is telling you to stop your sin so that you may enter, otherwise you will get legal justice and will be separated from God forever.

But you, you are like the person who is drowning in a frozen lake, being drawn under the ice again and again, and deciding not to grab the rope offered by the rescue helicopter because you want another option of rescue. You don't like the choices offered.

Sin and death came upon mankind because of what ADAM did and in so doing he handed over this world to satan, who hates God so much and is so jealous that he wants to hurt and destroy
that which God loves the most -- mankind -- but God did not just walk away and leave us all to our fate -- a hopeless eternity in hell
with satan -- He sent His Son to die in our place and all who re-ceive Him as Savior will not perish.

Read Romans 5.

Sin and Death were NOT what God wanted for us and He surely
did NOT want to see His Son die in the horrible way that He did, but that is what LOVE did!!!

And Jesus LOVED and HONOURED His Father and His God so very much that on the night before His death, he told His Father,
NOT MY WILL, BUT YOURS BE DONE.

Y'shua endured the shame of the cross for the joy set before Him.
He LAID DOWN His life for us and He took it up again.

God is GIVING us the CHOICE that satan never would. He is giving sinful, fallen mankind the CHANCE to choose HEAVEN over hell.

Without Jesus, HELL would have been AUTOMATIC for ALL of us
for ALL ETERNITY -- and who would you blame THAT on?
Would you blame God for NOT giving us a way out?!?

But He did!!!

Y'SHUA GAVE HIS LIFE AS A RANSOM, SO WE COULD BE FREE FROM SATAN!!!!

BUT WE HAVE TO CHOOSE TO "OPT-IN" TO SALVATION.

You don't have to take the judgment that awaits satan and his fallen angels. You can go FREE right now/.....

God DOES love you!!! That is why He sent His Son to die in your
place and He is giving you a choice == to LIVE!!! TO BE BORN
INTO NEW LIFE THROUGH HIS SON!!!!

Satan is the one who is holding the world hostage with all of his lies and his hatred and jealousy.

NOT GOD!!!!

GOD IS NOT WILLING FOR ANY TO PERISH!!!!!!!

HE WANTS YOU IN HEAVEN!!

Jn, 8:24 - Jn.3:36 - Acts 4:12 - Jn.3:16,17 - II Cor.5:20-21 -
Is,53. - Col. 1:13,14 - Ephesians 1:6,7 - Rom.6:23 - Heb.7:25
I John 4:9,10.

We were born spiritually dead in trespasses and sins and all of these sins that we have committed in our lives are sins against
God Himself and instead of putting the penalty of those sins on each and everyone of US, He put them all on His Son for OUR redemption and our salvation....and yet you BLAME Him for doing
what satan would never do -- and that is to offer us a way out of going to hell for all eternity through HIS grace and HIS mercy and
not by ANYTHING that WE can do to earn it or deserve it....IT IS A
GIFT!!!!!

Do you think SATAN would give you a CHOICE as to whether or not you wanted to go to hell when you die -- also his command -
and leave this world forever.

NOOOOOO!!!!! HE WOULDN'T ---BUT GOD IS GIVING YOU THE CHOICE THAT SATAN NEVER WILL!!!! DON'T BLAME GOD IF YOU DECIDE TO GO WITH SATAN'S PLANS FOR YOU
IN ETERNITY -- BECAUSE THAT'S THE CHOICE!!!

Left up to God, there would have BEEN no FALL, no sin, no death, no suffering, no destruction or disasters on this earth!!!

Adam was GIVEN the responsibility over the Garden of Eden and HE failed, selling us ALL out to satan, and it is ONLY by the God's
grace and mercy that we even have the OFFER of salvation.

First off, God Himself lives by the divine truths he commands us to live. God cannot save us in our sins, only from our sins. God cannot supersede eternal law, which says that if you sin and don't repent you will be punished. God would cease to be God if he would allow the wicked to go unpunished.
