The safest way is go through the UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE. It is not the fastest, but the safest. I don't know about all web sights. You might check with the USPS they would be able to tell you.

I assume that you are referring to a USA Passport. The fastest and safest way to get it is to go to your local USPS (United States Postal Services) office. Talk to the person in-charge of passport applications. They have a way of expediting the process where you can get your new passport in a few days - you just need to pay extra for it. Just inquire about the fees and the number of business days they can be available. Make sure you keep your receipt.

Cheers!

If you're talking about a US Passport, the average is six weeks for a US citizen to get a passport... so says the Passport Services Office. To obtain a passport for the first time, you need to go in person to a "passport acceptance facility". You can download an application and get all the info you need on where to go close to you and what you need to take with you at the State Dept site....go to: http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html

It always pays to get your passport early to avoid that stress if you can.

Assuming its a US passport, the fastest way is NOT the post office, it is by going to a US passport agency. You can find one on this website:
http://travel.state.gov/passport/about/agencies/agencies_913.html

I applied at a post office, along with about 20 other students, and the expected arrival time on the tracking website is about 9 weeks from the date we applied; however, every day that I check it, the date keeps getting pushed further and further back.

Don't get any passport information from a website other that travel.state.gov! Other websites are scams! They'll get your info (SS#, mother's maiden name, etc.) and screw you like you wouldn't imagine!!! lol.seriously, though...

Good luck!

The safest way is to go to the post office, hopefully one that does not require an appointment. Fill out the necessary forms and pay your fee, you should have you passport in about 4 business days.

I wouldn't mess around when it comes to your passport! I went to a local post office, where they offer passport services, and they will be able to help you. There is an extra charge for an expedited turn around, but if you're that desperate it would be worth it to get it done right!
