My friends and I are having a party this weekend. There will be a lot of people from different countries, which is always a lot of fun. I met a guy on the campus and we started talking, he mentioned that he does not many people so I thought maybe I could invite him so he can meet others. I was in his situation so I tried to help. He said yes he would like to come and I told him to bring a friend with. The thing is I am not interested in him like that at all, I just thought he might appreciate to meet others. But my flatmates think he will get the wrong idea. I have a boyfriend whom I love very much and I am not interested in anybody else. Do you think this guy will get the wrong idea? I am not sure how what goes through a guy's head if it happens to him? I just don't want any complications?

As soon as he gets there introduce him to your boyfriend. It should be a good situation for him to meet other people.
You sound a little paranoid that your boyfriend may have a problem with you invitinting this guy.

well it's nice that you want to help him meet people, but when you asked him to go to a party this w/e, he probably assumed he would be hanging out w/you and getting to know you more personally instead of showing up and you being like, "O, this is so and so. We met there and I invited him here." Then you'll just move on to your other friends while he stands there alone, everyone knowing he's the new guy.
I guess the point is, don't invite him to a party if you're not interested in him! He's only going because he's interested in you.

He may get the wrong idea. Think about how you asked him and think about what idea you would get if a guy invited you to a party. If he goes to the party then politely introduce him to your boyfriend he should get the picture then.

Just during the conversation drop a somewhere 'my boyfried', even if he got the wrong idea already, it will make him understand. Help you to avoid any complications or an uneasy conversation, if he will decide to tell you he likes you or asks you on a date.

I do not get the impression from what you've told me that this guy has the wrong impression. You invited him to a party, not out to a movie.

If he does try to hit on you, inform him you're taken. Simple as that.

maybe you should say "hey, my boyfriend and i are going to this party...maybe you would like to go and meet a few people. you can bring a friend if you'd like..." that would work. that way he knows that you are not interested in him any more than friendship.

So what if he gets the wrong idea, let him know what's going on. It depends on you if there'll be any complications, do you love your boyfriend? You know what to do.
