Goodness, no. They won't be going there. That would inconvenience them. Having studied the Bible, I must admit I cannot find anywhere in the New Testament that reads non-believers will go to hell (although they sure rwon't get Eternal life, according to the text):

Upon the wicked He will rain snares; Fire and brimstone and burning wind will be the portion of their cup. (Psalms 11:6) - Ah, but only Christians can judge the wicked, of course, no one else. *Yawn*

For the LORD will execute judgment by fire And by His sword on all flesh, And those slain by the LORD will be many. (Isaiah 66:16) - The Lord sounds like a blast, eh?

"Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. (Matthew 7:19) - Those poor elms.

"The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire; in that place there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 13:41-42) - What a benevolent God. What a guy to worship.

"And if your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the eternal fire. (Matthew 18:8) - Notice almost no Christians ever do this and the ones that do usually wind up in an asylum.

"And if your eye causes you to stumble, cast it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes, to be cast into hell, where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED. (Mark 9:47-48) - Whose worm? I'm still not seeing the non-believer part, although this is quite an image for a children's story.

"If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch, and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. (John 15:6) - Hmmm. This may be it but it isn't exactly clear. Then again in a story of allegories and bloodshed, just what IS clear??

"He also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; and they have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name." (Revelation 14:10-11) - What beast? God doesn't even seem to know; only that it's not him. Yes, it seems again only believers know. And it sure as hell ain't one of them. They can molest children and rape women and stone unbaptized babies until the cows come home as long as they "believe" in Christ Jesus and sacrifice some lambs.

"And death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." (Revelation 20:14-15) - Wait, wait... so, death is in the lake of fire? Does this mean if everyone dies they're going straight to hell? Man, you can't even live a good life anymore if you aren't immortal. Is death a sin too? And I'd love to find ONE person whose name was written in that book.

"And behold, they cried out, saying, "What do we have to do with You, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?" (Matthew 8:29) - And, I imagine, Jesus winked and giggled.

Unfortunately, many Christians who believe in Hell as a literal place also believe that they're too darned superior to get there. They haven't read the Bible verses that tell them in no uncertain terms if they ever lie or think badly, they'll be on a one-way ride there too. It's nice living in the dark (ages).

I do not fear hell because I have received the Savior!

To those who don't believe in hell:
1) Jesus talked about it saying that it is the place where the worm never dies. That is the worm that eats away at decaying bodies.

2) You don't have to believe fire burns in order for you to find out when you touch something hot.

People always say that experience is the best teacher. And that's true. In life we learn about how fire is hot, ice is cold, people can break your heart, school can advance your career etc. all from experience. Unfortunately, unlike life, in hell there are no second chances! You will definitely have an experience but you won't be able to learn from it because you'll be stuck in eternal torment forever. So believe in hell or not it is still a fact and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

Why would I fear going and suffering in Hell if I'm a christian and going to Heaven? That was pretty much a trick question! Or possibly a dumb one!

No. Hell simply means the common grave of dead mankind.

Ecclesiastes 9:5: "For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten."

If we are conscious of nothing it would be very hard to suffer. When we die, our brain dies as well. There is no part of us that separates from the body and lives on after physical death. There would be no need for a brain and all it's intricate functions if we had a part of us that could think apart from the body. We have a brain, therefore we think, reason, feel, have emotions (or not). Without the brain, we would cease to function and cease to think. Think about when someone has brain injury or is brain dead. If part of them were able to go on functioning, doesn't it seem like by now we would know it.

I don't fear suffering in hell anymore, I gave my life to God ! Why would I want to go to hell for ? When God has prepared a place for me in heaven for eternity. A place that is beautiful, pure and overwhlemed with love. I will follow Jesus and have peace in my life knowing that I am going to heaven. The ones who should be scared of hell are the nonbelievers.

No. Fear is not the reason to love God. In fact, I came to love Him before I believed in Hell.

I define Hell as "the absence of God" --- so, Yes.
I fear it for myself and for all others.

I can not imagine how empty I would feel without God as my first and my final thoughts.

For any of you who have ever truly felt alone --- you know exactly what I mean.
