They think that it is a "Giant Cell Tumor". It is located on my right index finger where the finger meets the palm. From what I can feel it seems to be the size of a large pea. I was just curious as to how they remove it, how big the incision will be, what the recovery time would be etc....any first hand experiences would be great. Thanks for all of your help.

I have searched on google and other search engines but could not find the first hand info I was looking for, I could only get the confusing medical mumbo jumbo.

these are questions you will need to ask your surgon or doctor. make sure you have a list ready on a piece of paper. It would be my guess that it would be day surgery. just because it feels like a pea doens't mean that is how deep it is or if it is attached around it. recovery should be quick. a week at the most. i doubt they would even put you to sleep if you didn't want to. There is a possibility they could cut into some nerves. this is possible with any surgery. But compared to my hystorectomy. across my stomache you aren't looking at anything.

The sooner you get the surgery the smaller the incision will be. The incsion should be a little bigger than the tumor but not too much. If you take good care of the incision after the surgery(changing bandaids, using neosporin, keeping it clean, etc) than there should generally be no scar.
