Today in my civics class, my teacher (I'll call him mr. l) called 1 of his friends in New York (I'll call him Bob). Mr. l put the cell phone on speaker phone and said o.k. somebody tell Bob a major city in the U.S. Mr. l walked out of the classroom so he could not hear which city was said. One of the students said Las Vegas. When Mr. l came back into the classroom, Bob gave him clues to which city it was, it was Mr. l's job to figure out what city it was. The only clues Bob gave was " your going to stay one day in Siler City (the town in nc that i live in) and then your going to stay 3 days in New York City. After these two clues were given, Mr. l said oh, I'm going to Las Vegas.
Does anybody know how he guessed it from just those two clues? Please Help, its driving me crazy

The second one we said was Honolulu.
The clues given by Bob were "you're going to stay 5 nights in Houston, and 1 night in Las Vegas". From these two clues, Mr. l figured out that the city was Honolulu.
How???

no, they was not using another cell phone to text messages..we could c mr l thru the window, and yes, those clues are exactly as Bob said on the phone

I have a guess for Honolulu, but it doesn't work for Las Vegas, unless you got the number of nights or the spelling of the cities wrong. It is thus;
5 nights in Houston (there are 5 letters the same as Honolulu)
1 night in Las Vegas (there is 1 letter the same in Honolulu)
Still can't figure out the first one. Did you give the right clues?

ok i only know honolulu because 5 letters of houston make honouu and 1 letter of las vegas make honolulu. the first on ei am wondering if you got the clues right or they could be hotels to stay at i am not sure are you sure you got your clues right

For the first one i assumed he knew because Las Vegas hotels are citys, i stayed in the New york New york but for the second one i dont know. Maybe those are the cities you fly through....

I totallly agree with M T, I think they must have the same codes for any city in the US just like he asked you guys. I havent heard of anything else like that. Hope I helped :)

he probably called his friend earlier that day and told him in advance to pick las vegas. then he called him during your class and his friend already knew to pick las vegas. in other words, the friend was in on it and they just came up with clues to tell
