She's probably about 8 months old and an indoor cat, and I definitely want to get her fixed soon, but I was trying to wait until my guy started his new job so we'd have more extra money floating around...just so you guys don't think I'm a bad cat-mommy!
She's meowing A LOT and she's normally a silent cat, but she's not rolling or going to the door or putting her butt in the air like some people say she should do if she was in heat. She's been like this for about two days, and she's been getting the same amount of food, water, and attention as usual. If I meow back at her, she'll come running to me and rub on me.
So what do you think? Is she in heat or is it something else? And if she is in heat, should I just scrape up the money and go ahead and get her spayed ASAP?

Congrads, your cat is in heat. If you want to keep her from getting pregnant, keep in at all cost.
In regards to getting her spade, let her go through her first heat cycle. Althoug it is tough on you, it makes it a little easier for the vet, since the body is fully developed in the cat and has had a chance to develope the reproduction organs. As soon as she is done with her heat cycle, get her done ASAP; a cat does not need to be in heat to get pregnant. Any time before or after a cycle (usually about two weeks) the cat can get pregnant.
Hope this helps.

Yes. My cat did the same thing when she was at 6 months, but it was the same time of year. It will last for a week or so and happens every month, and will get worse. I was waiting to get her spayed for the same reason, but I only lasted 2 more months because she would not shut up.

She may not be yet but it is getting to be that time of year, so its probably coming. I had the same problem with mine only I have a fixed male & he just looked at her like she was stupid. She is about the same age as mine was and usually they come in heat in spring and that's almost here. You may want to go ahead & spend the money now.

Male cats do not bypass into warmth. "warmth" is whilst the female cat is ovulating and is consequently receptive to being mated. A male cat will mount a girl that he believes to be receptive, no rely if the male is fastened or not. some men do not seem to comprehend they have been neutered, yet bypass during the motions besides! even however some women folk will attack a male attempting to mount her, so he has probable found out to bypass away the different cat on my own. a girl isn't "in warmth consistently" except there is something incorrect. I advise you get your un-neutered lady fastened, or a minimum of checked to be sure why she is showing "warmth" behaviour consistently.

It's possible. Is she just meowing or is she crying/screetching? The fact that when you meow back she runs over and nuzzles you makes me think thats what it might be.
If she is in heat you should get her spayed before she starts bleeding everywhere. Also, its better to get them spayed before their first heat...not only for your cat but also for the veterinarian.
Good luck

Yes, your cat is most definitely in heat, and its only going to get worse. Cats become very vocal when they are in heat and she is going to try to get outside. They reach sexual maturity very early, like four months old. The sooner you get them fixed the better. Get her spayed as soon as you can and don't let her get out!

It does sound like she is in heat... there are organizations that spaying/neutering is VERY cheap, they will ask some simple questions like how much money you make and since there isnt any coming in then GREAT! Just call around to your local animal shelters they will stear you in the right direction!! =) I had to do the same exact thing to get my male kitty neutered and it only cost me $30 to get him vaccinated AND neutered!! So call around!!

I am not sure if she is in heat, but it will be happening soon, but you might want to get her spayed right away, because she may start spraying, and sometimes, getting them spayed after the start spraying, they may not stop spraying...
