Do you think the teenage kids should be able to be in a mall without ID AND/OR ADULT SUPERVISION????

Some Major Cities are now not letting teens in without and id or adult, cause they have been causing trouble.

In some ways yes and in some ways no. some teens do not cause trouble, while others do. it is very easy most of the time to tell which ones are trouble makers. my youth group likes to go to the mall every now and then. no one in the youth group causes any trouble. we all try very hard to show that Christ is living in us. none of us would even dream of causing trouble. so requiring an adult would limit our time out with each other.

but then there are those teens that dress like a s l u t, and those that act all stuck up, better than you, or the ones that wear gang bands, and very long gold chains (the ones that are often see on gangs or in street criminals). those should not be allowed in malls with out ID or an adult.

I was never allowed at the mall with my friends, my mother was afraid that something might happen to me or I might feel pressured into stealing.. which I would have never done.. I knew better. But she was looking out for my best interest. I do not like to see some of these young kids at the mall. They are usually up to no good. Also have seen some of these kids going to the movies and leaving during the movie and returning before it is over asking what happened.. I got a few in trouble one night.. told the mother that were not in that movie and she lost it on them.. but all I could think is what if they did not make it back and something awful could have happened to them. I do not see a problem with window shopping for an hour.. but there is no reason for a child to be there for hours on end.

i used to go to the mall ALL THE TIME without my parents and i know a lot of other people did too!! of course there are the bad apples that cause trouble but most of them are too young to really do much else and when you're a teenager you just want to get away from your parents and not spend any $$ since you usually don't have any. i think it's alright and if it's a problem then malls should beef up security and not allow repeat trouble makers in the mall.

Of course they should.

Perspective: At the age of 11 I was biking down to the mall, alone. Most of the kids in this city do that. At any given time there are several bikes chained up to the conveniently-placed bike rack.

No going in without a parent? Tell that to the teenage girls buying clothes and shoes! Kids won't shop there any more, at all. They won't reply with "okay, I'll come back with Mom or Dad", they'll reply with "Screw you then, I'm not coming back at all!" Ah, the power of the purse.

*I* would be offended. If my son came to me and said "Dad, they wouldn't let me into the mall without you or Mom", I'd reply with "That mall no longer exists for our family. Consider it just a blank spot on your map."

And then the stores paying high mall fees will wonder why they're doing that if they're not getting customers, and the mall will quietly go out of business. Chalk one more up to Darwin.

Over 15 they should at least have ID on them but yes they should be allowed in the mall alone...under 15 no, they should have adult supervision.

I think you answered your own question. It is a shame that a few can spoil it for the majority.

The reason they can't be is in your own words, cause they have been causing trouble.

Now if I was a store owner in a mall I wouldn't want that around my business. The reason is that people will stop coming to buy. People come to malls to make purchases not have to worry about teens that are causing trouble.

I think they are doing the best they can. So under these circumstances I'd have to answer no, they need to be with an adult.

Before you decide on this, you have a couple of questions that need to be answered first...
1. Is the kid responsable?
2. How big is the mall?
3. Is there any way to contact the kid when he or she is at the mall?
4. How far is the mall?
5. Who is the kid with?

This does not really answer your question, but oh well.

No, I live in waukesha, WI and FINALLY one of our area malls that has had a lot of trouble lately is going to enforce some sort of policy not allowing children/teens in the mall during certatin times w/o an adult. With the problems this mall is having and me being a fequent shopper there with my children I welcome the enforcement b/c there have been many many times that I've been there where there are to many teens in there just hanging out looking for something to do and I would like to shop in peace without having to worry about the langue and senseless acts these teens are up to especially in front of my children.

Depends on the age of the child and the maturity level of the child. I personally don't feel that is going to fix the problem. Kids need activites to keep them from causing trouble. A place to play ball, shoot pool, play cards... things like that. Not just walk around a mall for a couple hours possibly steeling things.
