Don't think about starting a coversation, then you get freeked out about what you can say.
Just say, hi, how are you, hello, always works well.
Remember, a conversation, is by two people, you aren't on your own.
You must have interests, books you have read, shows or movies you have seen, music you like, or some hobby, or pastime.
Don't think what you have to say, just ask questions, which will let you get to know the other person better. Once you start talking, the conversation, will take it's on course.
Some are short, some long. depends on the person. Just relax, and see how it goes.
After a few times, like anything else, you will be more relaxed and confident.
Remember, when you first started to walk, you fell often, but got up and did learn to walk, same with riding a bike or swimming etc. Every new experience takes time and practice.
So just do it, and if you screw up, just remember, it's all a learning experience.

topics of discussion depend on the situation you are in. Stay on top of current events, sports, and pop culture... should lead to some interesting conversations. If you keep on top of these topics you will become knowledgeale, and knowledge leads to confidence.

You don't have to say a word....Just always smile and I mean a big smile and make eye contact with the person. I bet you they say Hi first. If by chance they don't here's one that worked on me..."Hi...How ya doing"? with a silly grin pasted on your face there is no girl that wouldn't answer you.

talk to people, talk a lot to people, especially girl, when you saw a stranger (girls), go talk to them, even if they are in a group of girls, go talk to them, ask them what's up........

Get some balls, what ever it's gonna happened, at the end, you would lose nothing, but you probably gain something else.....
