You WILL have to go to the dentist tell them your scared believe me the sooner the better cause if the abscess gets very bad the pain will be too so go and get it sorted out, I doubt if they will DO anything other than look as no tooth should be taken out or filled till abscess has gone. So YOU GO it won't be bad. Good luck

Absolutely seek a dentist. Dont be afraid the advancements in dentistry have come so far- you can be given medication to make the visit more comfortable and an enjoyable experience. The abcess is serious business especially with swelling. If it starts going up your face and has your lymph system swollen (under your jaw) you need antibiotics immediately so go to the emergency room. Infections of the mouth that get seriously out of hand can kill you because it gets into your bloodstream.

If it bothers you that much, once they have cleared up the infection that you clearly have, after that, whether you need to have a root canal, filling or extraction then have them do sedation. They completely knock you out and you won't remember ANYTHING! I had a terrible experience with having a wisdom tooth extracted, it took over a hour to get it out and in the process the dentist cut the back of my throat. Needless to say I wasn't to fond of dentist after that lol. When I had to have the rest of my wisdom teeth extracted I chose to have sedation. It was the best lol, you go to sleep and wake up with everything done, no pain, no memory. Just don't put off going to the dentist, that is very unsafe.

I do understand your fears but you will be amazed at how much care you may receive from a dentist. Though scary but a dentist will not treat you if you show a lot of signs of fear. They(the dentist) will first deal with your fear before your tooth because they do not treat teeth only but the whole of you. I would like to encourage you to go and see you dentist you will be glad to have done it.

What's he done to you? If he's been nasty you can complain to the British Dental Association or whatever it is.
Joking aside - whatever the problem is, your dentis will give you some anaesthetic before he/she carries out any procedure. That means you won't feel a thing. Nothing to worry about. Tell your dentist that, although you have not problem with dentist as people, you are extremely dental-phobic. Ask him/her to explain everything that needs to be done and just inform them that you need a lot of reassurance because you have this fear.

My 8 year old daughter went with one on Monday, she wasn't scared. He won't take it out while your'e in so much pain, he'll give you antibiotics to reduce the swelling. It won't go on it's own, You really need a dentist. If my young daughter can go, i'm sure you can

It`s the only thing thats going to cure your pain and it wont go away on its own.
dentists are great these days at putting people at ease and the pain relief is excellent, you wont feel a thing.

ARMY CHICH,
DIDN'T YOU READ OR HEAR ABOUT THE 12-YEAR-OLD BOY WHO DIED FROM A BAD TOOTH INFECTION. THIS STORY WAS ON NBC AND IT WAS ULTIMATELY DUE TO HIS NOT BEING SEEN BY A DENTIST MUCH EARLIER.
DENTAL ABSCESSES CAN KILL YOU, LIKE THAT KID.
