my father has a love child and all of my friends keep running into her. apparently she is the same age as me and looks just like me (obviously i look like my dad). i know her first name but not her last. i've always wanted to meet her but what would i say to her. she doesn't even know my father. i would say talk to your mother for more information. if you meet your brother she will find out and it will just hurt her more that you didnt' include her in the process. i would try to contact the vital statistics bureau in ireland and give them your father's name and see if he is on any birth records. if not then you can ask them to search for any kids born to an olive in that area during that time period. i know when i went digging through vital statistics they charged me either per page or per record so be prepared to pay for this service.

i think the only way to find your brother or sister would to get more information from your mother... You only have the first name of the mother and the years the child was born in.

If you really want to know your brother, you would have to ask her for some information. A last name would help. If you don't want to hurt your mom, then leave it alone. But if you really want to know your brother, you are going to have to ask your mom to understand the need to know any family you may have. Just remember, maybe you are eager to meet him.... he may or may not feel the same. Just don't get your hopes up. He may have harbored ill feelings for your father.

Try asking your uncles (father's brother) or ask your father's best friends for more details.
Try searching for any person with your father's last name in Belfast (hopefully it is an unique name).

Actually this is an adult situation. If your Dad wanted you to know the child he would have arranged it before he passed on. Ask your Mom how she feels about you pursueing this situation. She may be upset.... but she has all the details .

You won't hurt her anymore than she is already hurt. Just ask her where you can find the kid!
