Someone told me it is written in the Bible about keeping your house clean and organize at all times. What scripture is that? I heard of a saying that goes like this, "Cleanliness is next to Godliness." Is that the scripture in the Bible. If you know then please tell us. It will give us more incentives to be more organized. I don't know if God even mentions that. I know God mentions about keeping your body clean, but the house, oh well I don't know.

That's NONESENSE!

I have been a biblical scholar (B.A. religion major, B.Theology and M. Divinity + 30 years of study) for many years and I assure you there is NO passage in the Bible which says, "Cleanliness is next to Godliness."

"Godliness" is to love God and your neighbor, to help people who are downtrodden and in need and to look at Jesus who has CLEANSED your conscience by taking away your sin.

I think most of the biblical references to a clean house or a house of order are talking about the temple, or the church as an organization.

That being said, I know when my house is tidy, it's easier to feel peaceful and the influence of the holy spirit. I'm not a super neat freak or anything, I just have noticed a difference when I do tidy things up a bit.

I really think that he Bible contains a lot of symbolism. God is going to have to forgive me for my cluttered mess!! LOL I know He loves me how I am, but I would feel less stress, and more peace within if I had my home more organized.

Good question!! I have heard that saying also, but never saw it in the Bible.

It is not!! Check out the story in the bible about Mary and Martha
That's really silly! I think it is more important to God that you are hospitable in your home rather then how tidy it is.

Not only to God. Cleanliness also is a measure of how civilized a country is, or group of people--by civilized I mean, educated etc. Think about it.

Where there is disorder, every evil spirit dwells.
