Claritin really is the best thing going for over the counter meds, effective and no drowsiness. If that doesn't do the trick for you, you should consider the prescription Singulair. Some people have to take both. Benedryl just makes most people too tired, can try sudafed, actifed, and any number of other preparations, but typically they don't do as good a job, but you can always just grab a few boxes and then try them all and see if any of those does it for you.
Another option is a nasal spray, prescription flonase, which is a steroid, may work for you. Also there is one over the counter nasal spray that contains cromlyn sodium, what is called a mast cell stabilizer, it might work well for you.

Anyway, maybe one of these will help in your situation.

Benadryl works but causes drowsiness--I only take it at night.
Try applying an ice pack to the eyes and nose area for 5 minutes. I find this is surprisingly helpful.
I have my personal emergency allergy remedy: Niacin (vitamin B3). I take 200 mg of Niacin (not niacinamide). This makes your skin flush red and hot for a few minutes. This is a little uncomfortable, but when it's over, the allergy is gone. For a while anyway, until your system has time to build up some histamines again. Myself, I rarely have had to repeat it. It's harmless, but if you take it daily your body eventually builds up a tolerance to it and you don't flush.

Its a bad idea to take anything that has a decongestant on regular basis because it may lead to chronic sinus problems. The best thing to do is use saline solution to clean out your nostrils. Pollen gets trapped in your nostrils so taking lots of showers and staying very clean are the best cures if claritin isnt working for you. Drinks lots of water and try alavert.
