"Isn't it enough that a garden is beautiful without having to believe there are fairies in it, too?"

(And I'll just give the 10 points to the first person who can tell me its source!)

Everyone already gave the source so I have zero chance to get the points. Anyway.

It's true. Our garden is (used to be?) very beautiful and the belief that no fairy is responsible for it make it even more beautiful but also give us, its gardeners, the sense of our responsibility.

The belief in a god, er in fairies, is often an excuse to get rid of our responsibilities. In some religions such attitude is merely a perversion (jansenism for the christian religion for example), in some others it is the basis of the faith (I will not say which one, only that their god is great...).

Satan?

Sounds like a denial of God. So I would ask what is the point of the garden if it doesnt have any substance, and the tomatoes are poisonous?

As I recall "JIBBA JABBA" is right. To me, this is the essence of the difference between those who are awed by majesty of the universe ON ITS OWN GLORIOUS TERMS - and those who would have us accept pale, primitive, banal fairy tales.

every day I pray this prayer "God, Save me from religious fanatics"
I always say It doesn't matter to me if Jesus was divine or not. it's still a good idea to treat others as you want to be treated.
