I would go to a breed rescue, but first make sure that your dog is okay with other dogs. Some dogs are just fine on their own and don't miss not being a mother. My last dog was very content to be an only dog. She liked hanging out with the family and I think that if we had gotten another dog, that it would have caused more harm than good.

Don't just go out and buy a great dane..make sure the parents are ok and that the pups have been checked out...being big dogs they can have terrible problems with their limbs!!!

go the the Great Dane Club of America web-site (gdca.org) and pull up the clubs surrounding your area. most of them list a rescue person and contact them. help a dane in rescue who needs a good new home for one reason or another. good luck on your quest!

First, dogs have no need to be 'mothers'.

Try http://www.petfinder.com
