Ghandi said " I would be a Christian if it weren't for Christians." What are your comments on both sides?

The main reason people are opposed to Christianity is because often Christians (also being imperfect humans) mess up and act just like everyone else. When people see Christians fighting and doing dumb stuff they view it as hypocrisy and reject Christ because we do a poor job of representing Him. I think Ghandi has a very valid point. Christians are not perfect simply because we are Christians, instead we are forgiven from our iniquities, and work to bring glory to God.

Ghandi was a very wise man, he saw to the truth of the matter. It isnt the beliefs that are so bad it is the people who twist them to their own agenda to justify their actions no matter if they are good or bad and act like they are better than everyone else because of it. There is a good chance that many people would have more respect for Christianity if the people who follow/ed it hadnt committed so many atrocious acts in the past, and present.
I think what Ghandi meant was that christianity itself is not what causes bad it is the people involved in it that do bad because they think being a part of christianity gives them the superior right to tell everyone else how to live, what to do and what to believe.

What Ghandhi probably implied, "Do unto others, what you'd do unto yourselves".

It is a possibility that he was influenced enough by the teachings of Christ, but was repulsed by the fanatic, overzealous, monotheistic nature of the Church. He was also a strong proponent of religious harmony, with ardent supporters amongst all religions in India. He believed in the inherent goodness of men, to love others selflessly like Chirst did.
