I'm 34 and can pass for a 12 year old! Its really annoying! How do you cope with the constant "you look like you are 12" questions?

I can totally empathize with you! I'm almost 32 and people consistently think I am still a teenager. It's very embarrassing. I was in a hot tub while on vacation, and one of the staff members came up to me and told me "You have to be 16 to use this hot tub." I was like.."Um..I'm 31 sweetie." I always get ID'd when I go to casinos, and I pretty much never order alcohol b/c even after they see my ID they don't believe me. During my senior year of college I interned at a high school. I was stopped several times a day for my hall pass. Everyone tells me to enjoy it, but it gets really annoying! I think the best thing to do is ignore it when someone makes a comment. They look foolish, not you.

I understand, I have a very youthful face as well, and get similar treatment.

Why someone gave advice to not giggle is beyond me....My Grandmother giggled, and certainly, no one treated her as though she was a child due to it.....but that is beside the point, I just had to add my two cents in.

The trick is, even though these people are making you uncomfortable, do not let that come through, you may make them uncomfortable in turn, and as tempting as that may be....don't. Although, if the person is Incredibly snippy, rude, and superior in how they ask you, you can always take a few glances towards their face, pointedly looking at the fine lines and wrinkles on their face.(Yes, I am aware this is rude and immature, but when in Rome....especially because these particular Gems of People are usually treating you this way because they feel insecure about their own age and appearance.)

Just try an enthusiastic thank you! And maybe an "I love it!" or you can toss in that you have good genetics and hope that your children get the same benefit.....or you can say "How interesting of you to notice, I have never heard that before......"

Keep in mind that your 'fountain of youth' look won't last forever. If you look 18 when you're 40, they'll put you on Oprah to ooo and aaah. It may be annoying now, but will pay huge dividends as you get older.

Don't sweat it and just tell them "thanks for the compliment. It runs in the family." and smile knowing that they'll be wrinkled long before you are!

Or if you're feeling nasty, "Really? I was just thinking how you look (pick an age about 10 years older than you think they are). A guy will probably laugh it off, but another woman will get the point REAL fast and leave you alone.

Looking younger may be a compliment or otherwise. Congratulations, anyway.

I look may be about 5 years younger than my age. You know generally it appears that Americans and Europeans look older than their age while Asians and Africans look younger than their age. Of course, this is considering that their economic status are almost the same.

The same thing applies for tall and big people who will appear to be older than their age while the short and small people will look like young every time and could pass with a big age gap of as much as 25 years depending on how he or she takes care of himself or herself.

Just say thank you. Imagine what you will look like in 10 or 20 years when everyone else is starting to wrinkle and sag. I won't be too worried. If someone speaks down to you, simple explain to them you are an adult and would like to be treated and respected like one. You need to look 12, but act 34.

yeah i get this too. im 19 and am still mistaken for a 12 yr old. i don't see how because i have an extremely curvy body and i dont see many other 12 yr olds with 34D's.

my parents have had people say to them "so what, your daughter must be in sixth grade now?" "no..she's actually in college". shuts them up pretty fast.

i think it is rude to guess someone's age like that cuz usually you're wrong and it just turns out to be a somewhat awkward situation.

Wow...Well, the grass is always greener on the other side, as they say. There are a lot of people who would kill to look that much younger.

If they say, "You look like you're 12," be blunt and tell them that you think that's extremely rude. It IS rude, and you can't let people get away with such blatant insensitivity. You don't have to call them an ******, even if they are, just be honest.

I'm almost thirty and have been told I look like I'm 16 so I know exactly how you feel. Yes it is annoying sometimes but just think of how good we'll look when we're 50. Thats how I cope.
