They make you into a hypochondriac

I like WebMD, I think its great, You can check your symptoms and it helps me to determine if I need to go to an ER, or if it can wait for a doctor. It makes me more aware of whats going on in my body and know what I am talking about when I go to the doctors. It also helps in giving us an idea of the types of treatment that is available. My husband had bad pain in his stomach recently and so I went to WebMD and checked his symptoms and it came up as appendicitis, so we rushed to the ER, it turned out that it was appendicitis so I am glad I checked and showed my husband. He ended up having surgery the next day and if it wasn't for WebMD, my husband would have tried to deal with it as long as possible instead of going to the ER (he hates the wait!) which would have resulted in it bursting and causing peritonitis. If it makes you a hypochondriac, that's a personal issue that you have to deal with.

You cannot be made a hypochondriac, you started out as one. The information given can resemble a variety of symptoms which is why you cannot diagnose yourself, but should leave that to your physician.

I think so too. I have sworn off that site. I used to get on there when I was suffering from severe anxiety. I wanted some reassurances but I got the opposite. I would leave that site literally wondering, with so many things that could go wrong with the human body, how I'd even lived this long.

One of the ongoing problems of sites like this is that the average person has no medical professional sitting next to them to interpret what they read. There's more to medicine than just pulling up a lot of facts and figures.

its not exactly awful, but its definitely not good at recognizing symtoms. all the medical problems have all the symptoms listed so one symptom you have can match a disease or disorder that it's impossible for you to have. try a real doctor

I differ. I found over the years that it is a very useful site. If you have any specific issues, you should report and may be share here. If you know of some better sites, pl. share. Thanks.
