Surveys have shown the atheists are trusted less then muslims, foreigners, or gays.
Why would you trust muslims over atheists? They preach hate and death to anyone who isn't one of them.
The most and atheist will do to you is get into an argument, and that's about it.
I just have a hard time understanding how you can prefer someone who wants you dead to someone who simply disagrees with your beliefs.

I agree with Irrish gia... I would trust an atheist over a muslim any day thank you very much.
The past is a good way to forecast the future, and just because Islam means "peace" it doesn't mean they actually want peace... maybe when they say peace, they mean "R.I.P.". It is a known fact that in Islam it is OK to lie and missrepresent yourself if it helps the cause of "Allah".

That's interesting, I didn't know that. However the stats must vary from country to country. In Spain, I am sure it would be the other way around. In one area of Spain where I lived (Catalunya) I think at least 50% must have been atheists. Even among those who called themselves "catholics" - it was a cultural designation for them. And I am sure that they would have trusted atheists over Muslims, as there was a little bit of xenophobia there. Also, atheism is respectable there: In the Civil War of 1936 to 1939, the Catholic Church was allied to the victors, who established a cruel fascist dictatorship. Evangelicals were allied to the losers: made up of republicans, democrats, communists, anarchists and Protestant Christians. The republicans, communists and anarchists tended generally to be atheistic. You can be sure with strong feelings involved in a civil war, there was a lot of hatred going around. (If the losers had won, there would have been a cruel communist dictatorship, I think, since the communists had the best organized military among the republican groups).
Sorry to be mixing history in with this, just explaining that history does affect one's perception of different belief groups.

I do because of what George23 just said. Don't get that from any of the others. Actually I agree with everything he said. No BS is a relief when it comes to some things.

As a Christian, I think I would trust an Atheist over a Muslim. For one, Atheists aren't generally violent. They are irritating with their closed-minded arguments (as you implied in your question), but they don 't preach that you should kill whomever doesn't agree with them.
Muslims by and large will try to tell you that they are peaceful, though the news of today, as well as history over the past 1350 years, doesn't prove that. Muslims also doublespeak (they have to to try convince you that they are peaceful). A perfect example is Saudi Arabia. They act like the greatest Mid-East allies of the USA, yet their people also give the greatest financial backing to terrorost groups like Al Qaeda.

I'm not a fan of generalizing. I would determine how much I trust people based on their character, not by grouping them together according to their religious beliefs.

Well, I don't say that I necessarily trust Muslims over atheists (being a Jew myself), but a basic tenet of religion is honesty. This is often difficult to find by atheists.
