The seatbelt that is extended and won't go back in is the seatbelt in the 2nd row seat in the middle. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Joe D is right. Your safety equipment ( seat belts, shoulder straps, air bags etc) are all covered for 5 years or 50,000 miles, no charge, & no deductable.
Your vehicle is equipped with a personal safety system & seat belt pretensioners & there are control modules etc.
Don't try to fix it yourself! Just bring it to your Ford dealer.
If you MUST tinker.... here's the link to your owners manual:
https://web.msslib.dealerconnection.com/RightSite/getcontent/myfile.pdf?DMW_OBJECTID=09000c58803bc601 see pages 84-85 here.
But I strongly suggest that you DO NOT take the safety of you & your passengers into your own hands or leave it up to the well meaning people here at Yahoo!........GO TO A FORD DEALER!

Seatbelts are part of the "Safety Warranty" on the vehicle and is therefore guaranteed for 5 years. Just take it to the dealer and they will replace the machanism at absolutely no charge to you.

You must replace the seatbelt retractor mechanism. There is no fix for seatbelts as they are safety items.Replacement only.Maybe a used one, but no gaurantee it does'nt do the same

They have a special teflon tape to install on it. There was a TSB related to this for a lot of Ford vehicles. Talk to your dealership.

AVIATOR, EXPLORER 4DR/MOUNTAINEER (SECOND ROW SEATS): Only install on vehicles built through 10/21/2004. Teflon tape was already installed on vehicles built on/after 10/22/2004.

You can also ask for the part, this is the number 3L22-78611D70-AB and install it yourself.

this can't be repaired, it must be replaced, so take it to the dealer.
