Because he is basically honest and is letting you know before any woman gets any ideas that he is the marrying kind. If you want to find a guy for a long term committment and eventually get married, then if you are dating this guy, dump him and move on. At least he told you. What about the guy who wastes 2 or 3 years of a girls life and then tells he he is not the marrying kind? Be thankful, get rid of him and look elsewhere for the guy of your dreams.

Because this has always been a good excuse a guy gives to a girl he is not interested in marrying. Believe me, ALL men are the marrying type when the right girl comes along! Dump him, there is no future with this guy!

don't listen to all of these people. i mean, they may be right---i don't know your boyfriend---but i know from personal experiences that i have sabotaged a couple of wonderful relationships by suggesting to my boyfriend that i'm not "the marrying type"! with me, it was subconscious. i still don't exactly know why, but i would emphasize and re-emphasize it until i drove them away and then i would feel sick to my stomach and extremely regretful that i portrayed myself in that light. i think it's a self-fulfilling prophecy for people who think they don't deserve to be happy or aren't good enough to make it work. your best bet is to just bring it up one day when it's relevant: "hey, you know how you say you're not the marrying type? do you really mean that or do you just think you have never met someone you wanted to marry...?"

because he obviously is not interested in settling down and is trying to make that very clear from the beginning so there aren't any misunderstandings. so when a man tells you that he is essentially trying to let you know we can kick it but don't expect anything more from me. he is giving you the heads up, and giving you the choice to deal with him as he is or head for the border.
