This is probably a really dumb answer from a girl but both of our cars had mice make nest in the air filters and caused the air intake to be totally blocked. Don't laugh too loud our cars just bogged down when driving any place.

I'm no mechanic but it sounds like an electrical or transmission problem or both with your automatic transmission there. Are you driving a column shift or a T-Bar floor board shift? I'd take it in to a dealership or mechanic and have it checked out. The truck should remain running even in park until you shut the key off. Hmm. Other then that I don't really know what to tell you there. I'd also if you can consult your owners manual that might help. It could be a simple fix that if you do it yourself might save you bucks with the mechanic. Either way I'd still have it looked at.

Check your neutral safety switch. A small sensor on the trans. Try to start your truck in neutral if it wont start there you go
