Has anyone in the military taken the REDUX retirement option? How much was actually rec'd after taxes?

DH has run the numbers with a few guys while on watch. While I don't know the exact numbers they came up with I do recall that it only looked like a good option for 1 guy and that was only because it cut the retirement check that he would have to split with his ex-wife.
