Actually after getting to know the person well enough to ask... you find out their likes and dislikes. Go from there. Incorporate meaningful things into the proposal. If the person likes horses... propose on a carousel.. etc. Only each individual can tell the best way to propose. It's a personal thing!

I think if a guy is going to propose it should be well thought out, planned and a videographer to document your life together at the beginning... (assuming she says yes). This is a time in a girls life she has always dreamed about. Spare no emotion or expense. Make sure she knows it is you bearing your soul and that you love her more than anything. Maybe you incorporate where you met, who introduced you, or some of your memories together.. Above all, show her you have prepared this day and want to make it special because you love her so much. She can't help but say yes.

I think that on a beach at sunset would be nice and yes I know someone else said that but I have a bit more to add. What about a nice romantic night picnic on the beach. Or another way is basically the same only under the stars after watching the sun set.

Well I know if my bf ever popped the question I would want us to be alone and be talking one on one and maybe depending on the situation if he started singing my favorite love song to me (no matter how bad he sings) that would be one of the many possible choices. Think of something non-traditional so she will always remember it.

i would want it to be totally unexpected---like point toward something and when she looks away, drop the ring on her food or something! ;...er, or maybe you could come up with something better than that, but if she's not expecting it at all, it would be so much cooler than if she started to figure it out right before you did it. maybe at an airport in front of a bunch of people? i saw that on america's funniest home videos one time...

IT depends on her interests.
What does she like to do? Where are her favorite places?
For me; I would love to be asked at the park late at night on the swings.
But that's just me :]
