Pretty regularly I get cramps that are so bad that I can't walk. What I have to do is catch them before they come. I take pain pills when I first get up in the morning, cramps or not, when I'm on my period. If I start after I feel them, even if they aren't bad yet, its too late. The solution then is to take a nap. I'm serious. Your stomach muscles relax alot during a nap and it gives pills time to work without you having to feel any pain. Trust me.

You should be careful with over-the-counter medicines. On December 19, 2006 the FDA warned against the secondary effects of Acetaminophen found in pain killers such as Advil, Tylenol, or Motrin. When ingesting a combination of such pain killers, it can result in overdosis. Overdosing of Acetaminophen can result in serious liver damage or even death. Our society relies SO much on chemical ladden synthetic drugs that people are poisoning themselves without knowing it. And then we pass on this kind of 'knowledge' to our future generations.
A more health friendly option would be to start taking natural products such as pine bark extracts. They are an antioxidant source, which means they scavenge free radicals, known to cause cancer, inflamations, and DNA mutations. A good example of pine bark extract would be OPC-3. It not only contains pine bark, but also grape seed extract, and red wine extract; which makes the product more potent than others with just the pine bark alone. OPC-3 is 50 times more potent than vitamin E and 20 times more potent than vitamin C. It will not only take care of your cramps, but will also benefit you in a host of ways, from improving skin appearance, to lowering your cholesterol levels.
Newsweek magazine did an article on that. go to www.newsweek.com type in the search engine the title: "It's All in the Bark". You won't miss it. A German study also confirmed the benefits of pine bark extract. http://www.nutraingredients.com/news/printNewsBis.asp?id=74088
You can check out OPC-3 at www.marketamerica.com/americhoice (americhoice)

Advil and a heating pad on your lower abdomen.
If you can catch the cramps before they get too bad, the Advil will work better (I know its too late now, but for future knowledge).
Hope you feel better fast!

Oh I hate that. I take three ibuprofens or three asprins (tylenol doesn't really help me) and take a hot bath/shower. Anything that relieves muscle cramps or that is warm/hot should do the trick.

Go for a short run or brisk walk around your block or take Midol, Tylenol, or Advil.

I take 2 midol (maybe 3) and 3 Ibuprofen. Lay down and flex my abdomen, or press hard on to my lower abdomen.
