I had a 2001 Volkswagen, which supposedly is supposed to have tons of electrical problems.... bullsh!t. I never had one problem with my 2001 VW! It was an amazing car, I drove the hell out of it. Put 20k miles on it in less then 8 months. It never failed me, electrical and all.
Volkswagen's are great cars, I had my 2001 and now have a 2007, They have both been reliable and never had a problem.
Enjoy your new VW!! =)

I've had four Vdubs '91, '99, & (2)'04's, and have enjoyed owning and driving everyone. Never ever had electrical problems but have had minor quirks with squeaks and rattles. That is the last year for that model which has been perfected since they first started building it in '95. The only issue with it would be that it's kind of slow but super cute. You might refer to vwvortex.com under forums for what owners say.

I have a jetta a 2001 and i was warned that the electric windows
tend to fail after 60k miles and what they will do is fall into the door as a saftey thing, but its expensive to fix.
also i hear that sometimes the eltrical will go and the radio and clock get all messed up (as mine did once) and sometimes you have to go to only a VW dealership to get that fixed

Yeah, electrical problems as with all VWs. We had a Jetta and the electrical problems we encountered to pain enough to get rid of it. Best move we ever made.

You can call it whatever you want, but its still a Rabbit, and I wouldn't buy one. I've already had this argument with my husband, and guess what, I was right. We bought it because he wanted it, and it was a POS.
