I always say if you are going to cheat on someone you might as well just break up with them. And why stay in a relationship that your not happy in when you clearly want to be with someone else.
I think that he deserves the truth and its not like he isn't going to notice that you are dating some one else.
I would just simply tell him that you really like him but you think the two of you were better off as friends and that you like this other guy.
Don't apologize for how you feel. If he is crushed tell him your sorry it hurts him but its how you feel. About all you can do.

First of all. Don't EVER go after someone just because of their looks or because they are "cool". The question is... is do you really LIKE any one of these people? Because if you can't find TRUE happiness with them, you shouldn't even waste your time.
