The punishment for apostasy (riddah) is well-known in Islaamic Sharee’ah. The one who leaves Islaam will be asked to repent by the Sharee’ah judge in an Islaamic country; if he does not repent and come back to the true religion, he will be killed as a kaafir and apostate, because of the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Whoever changes his religion, kill him." (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 3017).

When I've looked for this and asked about it, despite some definite variation of opinion, where sharia law applies there does seem to be a general view that open apostates should be at least punished, and in most cases killing is approved as a punishment.
This, from what otherwise does not appear to be a site of extreme views:

"...Muslim jurists are unanimous that apostates must be punished, yet they differ as to determining the kind of punishment to be inflicted upon them. The majority of them...agree that apostates must be executed."

As a Muslim i entered the faith without any permission from anyone and if i ever left the faith (which i never would) i would need no ones permission to leave. Who would know? Why would they care? I am free to leave Islam nothing would happen to me i know that for certain. People leave Islam and become Christians etc nothing happens to them. In Islam we are taught there is no compulsion in religion.
Kaafir is not a derogatory term it simply means non believer. Half my family are non believers including my parents am i to kill my parents and siblings? Of course not dont be stupid and naive.

i think its a fantastic idea, don't see a problem. though i grew up in an Islamic country, some Muslims become Christians and nothing ever happened to them. our government even gives money to the Christians to upkeep their churches and we is Islamic republic/democracy
