Have received Pell Grant last year ,but school kept the money is that what is done ? I thought Pell Grants are to go to the Student?

I believe it depends on the schools, I'm not sure. I went to UCSB and everything went to the school. At the beginning of each quarter, I usually get a refund check if my financial award was more than the tuition or I'll get an invoice if it wasn't enough. My sister went to UCLA and she had to go through the process of depositing the checks and then pay the school every quarter. I'm not sure if she chose that option or if it that was how the school preferred it.

Back when I was in college, the money came right to me. Ask your school and see what they say. You may still have some money coming to you.

When I had mine it went straight to the school.
